I had the honor of participating in Sparkling Events & Design Designers Challenge recently and the theme was Love. It was a lot of fun and I think I did a fairly good job considering the minute I started working on it the phones lit up like crazy for Christmas decorating. So needless to say some of my great ideas did not get finished. Through the hurry and the scurry of getting the challenge done and working on my other business Christmas decorating a lot of the items I bought for my great ideas did not get accomplished and I waited too long to return them so instead of carrying another one of the those credit return cards in my purse I decided to give it away as well as some of the things I bought and used for the challenge; my loss your score!!

Designers Challenge Entry~

I had the honor of being invited to participate in the Designers Challenge at Sparkling Events & Designs. The theme was Love and the budget was a mere little old $100 buckaroos. Yup you heard that right $100 bucks for a party of 4. I'll just say it took me back many years ago when I had parties for my children "just because" and had no budget.

Happy Belated New Year~

Happy (Belated) New Year! Sorry this is late but my New Year doesn't officially start until the 2nd week of January since we are busy with Christmas decorating takedowns.

I love the the New Year it's a great time for change. I have read a lot of peoples posts on resolutions what they are and aren't going to do; words that will drive their entire year; changes that are coming, etc... And I am a Fan of change; change is good and is what everyone needs; change is a shot of invigorating energy. I myself have been working on change for awhile now; wondering how to move forward with my businesses.

I did some splitting of the businesses so to speak.... Out with the OLD and in with the NEW! Forever I have run all the parts of my businesses under CHS Creative Productions and while I am fond of the name; explaining of what I did became old and tedious. I would find myself not even telling people the name of my business because it just seemed to create too much confusion and explaining. I also used to call Christmas decorating "holiday decorating" because it was politically correct.... Well NO MORE! I have spent the last six months deciding where I wanted to go with the businesses and what I wanted it to be.... my conclusion a split. I divided CHS Creative Productions into 2 categories Carolyn Horten Events and Christmas Specialists. I no longer care about being politically correct and I believe both the names are self-explanatory (although we did have some questions from people like "whats a christmas specialist?" but I am going to let that go.......... and will not comment.

I want to give a HUGE Thank You to Michele at Intrigue Design Studio for creating the new Carolyn Horten Events logo and designing this blog. Michele is awesome to work with and I didn't need to do a lot of explaining she just got what I was saying and ran with it. I love the new logo, thank you again Michele!! I also have a new website here that I am proud to say I did all by myself. I feel it gives a more accurate look to what I do.

I then had the awesome J at Piggy Bank Parties create custom artwork, new logos, designs, t-shirts, business cards for Christmas Specialists. We received a huge response based on going with straight forward Christmas decorating and not Holiday decorating. J totally rocked what I was going for; the team at Piggy Bank Parties are awesome and again just got what I wanted and went with it, totally exceeding my expectations. I created a new and seperate website here just for Christmas Specialists.

With these changes I hope to simplify my demands and not try to be all things to all people with regards to my business. I have to remind myself that ..................

and I'm okay with that!
